“Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America: They will be met.” – President Barack Obama
The day has arrived! So long Bush, welcome Obama. I unfortunately had to work, but had the coverage streaming! We can finally say:
The speech was, as expected, outstanding. I got particular chills when he said, “[…] and why a man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.” Wow. That’s progress.
We have reached the end of an error, Bush is gone. I almost feel bad for Obama…he is inheriting the country in one of it’s worst states and probably with the highest expectations. People love him, adore him, and are holding their breath for major change. Considering it all though, he’s the best guy for the job in my opinion! (Full speech text)
Flash forward to evening!
I’m home reading and flipping back and forth between American Idol and inauguration coverage. I am so happy I caught the first dance of Obama and Michelle! First of all, Beyonce sung one of my favorite songs, At Last by Etta James. Second, the Obama’s looked so happy; as did everyone watching. It was just a nice moment. Our new President has a bit of rhythm in his slow dance too! Go Barack! Ahhh, what a day….but an even longer night for the new White House residents that have 10 balls to go to!
